Medlyf to digitize healthcare system in Ghana
The Accra North Pitch Summit which observed a rigorous and unbiased selection process ended with MEDLYF emerging as one of the qualifiers for the GTL incubation. The founders Eric Tweneboah and Jesse Osei Frempong made it into incubation because of their exceptional business idea which will solve a societal issue in Ghana’s health sector. Their startup will provide an online health platform created purposely to make booking to see a medical specialist easier, cheaper, convenient and safer.
The two founders discovered the risks and costs involved in visiting the hospital twice; to schedule an appointment and to visit the doctor for consultation. Hence, their web application will eliminate these factors and provide a convenient way to see a specialist. Users of the web application will be provided real-time booking to see specialists and updates to the availability of specialists. Medlyf will allow patients to have the opportunity to view the profiles of medical specialists and book an appointment based on experience, ratings and reviews from other patients.
Also, with the help of GPS, users will be able to locate and visit good hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories or diagnostic centres based on proximity. This means, they will not have to travel far or spend much money on transportation to seek medical attention, which is one mission of the startup. Another fascinating feature of the web application is the easy accessibility to relevant health topics on mental health, paediatrics and general well-being which will educate users on how to live healthy lifestyles.
