What is Investor Readiness?

When seeking investment, start-ups need to know what is required of them. Different investors have specific criteria and requirements that need to be met before making a decision and these are often a reflection of the stage of the business or size of the investment.

Investor readiness talks about understanding the key points investors look out for in a business to decide whether or not to invest. A startup should position itself in the mind of the investor by presenting from their point of view.

It is essential because it provides financial and fundraising capabilities that investors look out for in startups and entrepreneurs.

What Entrepreneurs should know about investors to be investor-ready

Entrepreneurs should identify the investment cycle and the phases involved. This helps to identify the strategy for funding.

Identify the stage at which the startup is as well as the appropriate funders for the various stages and the appropriate funder for the particular stage. To help inform the startup entrepreneur’s decision on the type of funder to target.

What investors expect from Startup entrepreneurs

Mostly, investors are focused on risk, returns, and impact. An investor will be willing to know how funding was used if the startup has received funding from an investor and also how they worked with previous investors.
